Toy Story

The first Toy Story movie was made in CGI (computer generated imagery) and introduced us to Buzz Lightyear, Woody and the rest of the toys who live in Andy's bedroom.
Andy is a 6 year old boy celebrating a birthday and who is about to move house with is mum and sister Molly. Woody is Andy's favourite toy - a good old fashioned cowboy with a pull string. Head of the toys in Andy's bedroom Woody sees it as his duty that every toy has a moving partner so no one is left behind when Andy and family move home.

The toys are always rather nervous when it comes round to Andy's birthday and look to see what presents Andy's friends bring to the party to see if they will be disposed of at the dreaded yard sale! All is well until Andy opens a present and out appears Buzz Lightyear. Sheriff Woody at once feels threatened by this flashy space ranger with gadgets and lights and the ability to go to infinity and beyond. The other toys are most impressed by their new buddy. Buzz Lightyear , unfortunately. fails to realise that he is just a toy and not a space ranger with special powers - much to Woody's resentment.
Andy and his family go to Pizza Planet and whilst jostling for Andy's favouritism Woody accidentally knocks Buzz Lightyear out of the open window. The other toys mistakenly see this as Woody's plot to dispose of Buzz. An angry Buzz Lightyear climbs aboard the car on the way to the Pizza Planet ready to confront Woody and seek revenge. After a confrontation the two fight falling out of the car which drives away leaving the two stranded. Desperate to reunite with Andy before moving day the two set off on a mission. Woody realises that he must return with Buzz to keep the other toys happy.

Unfortunately they fall into the evil clutches of Andy's neighbour Sid Phillips who likes nothing more than to destroy and mutilate his toys. Trapped in Sid's bedroom with a horrifying mixture of scary toys Buzz becomes depressed. Sid has decided to destroy Buzz by placing him in the back yard and strapping a rocket to him. Woody and the mutant toys stage a rescue but miss the car as Andy drives off to his new home.
An exciting chase follows but with the rest of Andy's toys no longer trusting Woody what will happen? Andy's RC (racing car), a reconciled Woody and Buzz Lightyear eventually find themselves safely in Andy's car and on their way to a new playroom.
Christmas Eve arrives and the gang ever anxious over the new gifts awaiting learn that Andy has received not a toy but a puppy for Christmas!
Toy Story 2
In Toy Story 2 we are reunited with Andy's gang of toys for another fun adventure.
The movie begins with Buzz Lightyear who is trying to put a stop to the evil Emperor Zurg. Escaping robots and a spiked wall Buzz is blasted to pieces by Zurg - it's then quickly revealed that this sequence of events has taken place on a vidie game which Rex is playing. Phew!
Andy now 7 years old is off to cowboy camp and should be taking Woody with him. However an accident to Woody's arm which has been ripped means Andy leaves Woody on a shelf in his bedroom. On the shelf Woody meets up with Wheezy, a broken penguin toy that wheezes breathlessly instead of making a squeaking noise and who unfortunately is destined for the dreaded yard sale.
Andy's dog Buster helps Woody rescue Wheezy but in the process Woody is recognised by Al WcWhiggin of Al's Toy Barn as a valuable addition to his toy collection - more of which we learn later. Al takes Woody from the yard sale despite being told he's not for sale but Buzz and the other toys through clever detective work identify the thief and form a rescue party.
We then go to Al's apartment where we learn Woody is an extremely collectable toy and along with Jessie (the cowgirl), Bullseye (Woody's horse) and Stinky Pete the Prospector are due to be sold to a Japanese toy museum. The other toys are very excited about the trip especially Stinky Pete who still in his original box is in pristine condition. However Woody just wants to go home to Andy.
To Al's horror he accidentally rips off Woody's broken arm. Al falls asleep and Woody attempts to escape but this is thwarted when the TV comes on unexpectedly and wakes Al up. Al arranges to have Woody's arm fixed and the collection of toys are ready to set off on an adventure to Japan.
The rescuers, Buzz, Rex, Mr Potato, Slinky Dog and Ham arrive at Al's Toy Barn which is situated across the road for Al's apartment. In a series of hilarious happenings the toys escape with Woody and go back to Andy's house with addition of Jessie and Bullseye.
